Army's current relationship with civil administration 'very friendly'

Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed said that the army's relationship with the civil administration is now "very friendly" and the army is now "feeling more comfortable" while working.

The army chief spoke to reporters after exchanging views with the DCs at the Deputy Commissioner's conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Thursday.

Recalling the memory of attending the DC conference last year, the army chief said, "I personally came here last time and this time too. But I do not send any representatives. My presence in person at this DC conference two years in a row is proof of the importance I attach to it.

• I gave this signal to the District Commissioners, I came in person; Army wants to work sincerely with the civil administration to complete the duties given by the government. The District Commissioners appreciated the work of the army during the last floods. Appreciated other works as well. We have also said that there is a feeling among all at the lower levels of the present army, that the civil administration is much friendlier to us than before. We are more than comfortable working with them.
  Army chief said

We may have cultural differences. But the purpose is the same. Due to the limitations of working methods, there are many misunderstandings. The more we can eliminate them, the more we can perform while maintaining the individuality of our work.

He said, we are discussing how we can work together. Several DCs and Divisional Commissioners have clearly expressed how well the Army has done and how happy they are. Then I said, I will convey this to all levels of the army. It will boost their morale and motivate them in future.
