A case is filed against the customs officer arrested with Tk 23 lakh in Benapole
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Khandkar Mukul Hossain, assistant revenue officer of Benapole Customs House, who was arrested along with around Tk 23 lakh.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Khandkar Mukul Hossain, assistant revenue officer of Benapole Customs House, who was arrested along with around Tk 23 lakh.
On Sunday (February 12), Jessore District Office Deputy Director Md. Al Amin filed the case as plaintiff. This information is known from the sources of public relations department of ACC.
The case was filed after 7 months of arrest along with bribery. In the filed case, Khandaker Mukul Hossain has been charged under Section 4(2) and 4(3) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012.
According to the statement of the case, Khandkar Mukul Hossain joined the post of cashier of the National Board of Revenue in Dhaka in 2010. In 2017, he passed the post of Assistant Revenue Officer. Benapole joined the custom in November 2020. Due to the job in Dhaka, friendship developed with the higher authorities of the department.
According to the sources, on the morning of August 26, 2022, Mukul Hossain arrived at Jessore Airport on his way to Dhaka. At that time, the scanner machine of the port found the presence of a large amount of money in the bag he was carrying. Later Jessore airport security department informed the intelligence authorities of Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. In view of the complaint, 22 lakh 99 thousand taka was recovered after searching his bag at Dhaka airport. In the initial interrogation, Mukul could not say the source of the money. He was suspended for this incident.
