Zia revoked state recognition on February 11
After the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu in his family on August 15, 1975, the ideology of liberation struggle and liberation war was forgotten from the constitution of Bangladesh. The preamble to the constitution, which recognized the Bengali liberation struggle led by the father of the nation, was unconstitutionally canceled by General Zia, who usurped illegal power.
General Zia, through an illegal military decree, canceled the recognition of every contribution of the Bengali liberation struggle including the language movement prior to the 1971 liberation war by substituting the words 'through the historic struggle for national liberation' in the first sentence of the preamble of the constitution.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, besides establishing the nation of Bangladesh, brought another great achievement for Bengalis. That is the constitutional recognition of Bengali nationalism. What is meant by Bengali Nationalism - The father of the nation explained it in the principles of governance of the constitution.
It was said there, 'The Bengali nation, which has a single linguistic and cultural entity and has achieved the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh through the national liberation war by united and determined struggle, the unity and solidarity of the Bengali nation will be the basis of Bengali nationalism. This constitutional recognition of Bengali nationalism was abolished from the Constitution by the illegitimate dictator Zia.
This was the biggest blow to the Bengali nation after the assassination of the Father of the Nation. Zia did this work on behalf of the anti-ideological forces of Bangladesh's independence located at home and abroad and as their agent.
The nation had to wait for almost 35 years to bring back the ideals of Bengali freedom and liberation struggle from the constitution by wounding the constitution written in the blood of 3 million martyrs. In 1996, after coming to power after twenty-one years, the Awami League could not do this because it did not have the two-thirds majority to amend the constitution. In December 2008, the Awami League, led by Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina, formed a government with a three-quarter majority and restored the ideals of Bengali freedom struggle and independence to the constitution through the Fifteenth Amendment.
Again, on the initiative of Sheikh Hasina, February 11 is being celebrated as International Mother Language Day all over the world.
As Father of the Nation Bangabandhu established the Bengali nation on the map of the world through the creation of Bangladesh and political and state recognition, Sheikh Hasina has established February 21 as International Mother Language Day to all nations and states of the world.
This is a unique achievement in the history of the Bengali nation. Only Bengali and Bengalis have received this recognition in the world.
Today, BNP celebrates 120th February with bang, but have they forgotten that Zia canceled all recognition of Bengali liberation struggle including 120th February from the constitution? Zia, the founder of BNP, destroyed not only the language struggle but all the achievements of the freedom struggle constitutionally and politically. He implemented all the blueprints to bring Bangladesh back to Pakistani ideology.
Today when BNP talks about liberation war or 1st of February, it is a form of hypocrisy, self-contradiction and political correctness. Today, the new generation of Bangladesh and the entire nation have united against all evil forces under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu.
