Zelensky announced not to surrender to Bakhmu
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said they will not surrender the city of Bakhmut in the eastern Donbas region. For the past two months, Russian troops have been trying to seize the important Bakhmut by using all their might.

The President of Ukraine met with the leaders of the European Union (EU) at a conference in the capital Kiev on Friday. The conference was organized to join Ukraine in the European Union as soon as possible. It was attended by senior officials of the EU. Zelensky gave such a warning there.
He said, 'No one will surrender to Bakhmu. We will fight as long as possible.'
Zelensky also said, 'If arms deliveries are accelerated — especially long-range weapons — we will not withdraw from Bakhmut, we will start decolonizing Donbas.'
Russia has claimed that their troops are surrounding Bakhmut from all sides. Russian forces are trying to take control of one highway in particular. The road through which supplies are delivered to the Ukrainian army.
Meanwhile, Zelensky told EU officials that he wants Ukraine to become a member of the alliance as soon as possible and that he will start negotiations on it this year.
Ukraine was made a 'candidate for membership' of the EU in June 2022 after Russia invaded. However, Kiev will have to wait a few more years to become a full member.
