A mysterious balloon has been hovering over critical US infrastructure for the past few days. The US Department of Defense Pentagon claimed it was a Chinese intelligence surveillance balloon. Now the balloon is being monitored.
Pentagon officials said they strongly believe the high-altitude balloon is from China. The last balloon sighting was in the state of Montana.
Military officers decide
- At first it was thought to shoot down the balloon. But later military officials decided not to fire. Because its debris can cause safety hazards if it hits the ground.
The British media BBC reported that the President of the United States, Joe Biden, has been questioned about this mysterious balloon.
United States
- The country against which the United States has made such a serious complaint, China, however, has not yet opened up about it.
The BBC writes that President Joe Biden has been briefed on the overall situation with the balloon. However, no comment has been received from China yet.
The issue of the Chinese balloon came up before US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's upcoming visit to China. Blinken will visit China next week.

Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Patrick Ryder said that they have been observing such activities in China for the past few years. Such incidents also happened during the previous government.
The US Department of Defense Pentagon has decided to shoot the balloon the size of three buses.
Now the balloon is "flying over some sensitive installations" of the US. But the Pentagon says it is unlikely to gather vital intelligence. China is able to gather similar or better information through its own intelligence satellites in Earth orbit.
