Firing at army base in India, 4 killed
The firing took place inside an army base located in the border area of Punjab province of India. Four people were killed in this incident.
Al Jazeera reported that the shootings took place on Wednesday (April 12) morning. Meanwhile, the Indian media NDTV reported that the shootings took place inside the Bathinda army base.
The area has been cordoned off immediately after the attack and rapid response teams are conducting searches, the army's South Western Command said in a statement.
The statement added that the firing took place at around 4:30 am inside Bathinda Military Station. Station Quick Reaction Team has been activated. The area has been cordoned off and sealed. Search operations are on, four casualties have been reported.
The authorities say that the details will be given after the investigation.
However, Bathinda SSP Gulneet Khurana said, initially it is assumed that an army jawan opened fire. That's why the rest were shot.
