Third gender party leader arrested for selling 20 gift houses
The police arrested the so-called 'guru ma' Ruby Begum alias Rubel of the third gender (transgender party leader) on the charge of selling 20 tin houses of Guchch village given as a gift by the Prime Minister in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila.
Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station OC Kamal Hossain confirmed this information on Tuesday (April 11). The court ordered him to be sent to prison on Monday (April 10).
Chairman of Nargun Union, Serekul Islam, said that in 2019, the government built a tin house for 30 members of the third gender in West Nargun Iksu Farm area in Nargun Union of the upazila. Later they were also given semi-furnished houses under the Asharyan scheme. But the tin houses were empty. Suddenly the houses disappeared.
Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Abu Taher. Samsuzzaman said that selling government houses is a criminal offence. A three-member investigation team headed by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Tanjila Tasnim has already been formed in this incident.
Kamal Hossain, OC of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station, said that Deputy Assistant Officer of Nargun Union Land Office of the upazila, Hasan Ali, filed a case alleging that the government house was sold as a plaintiff. Later he was arrested in that case on Monday morning.
