This information was informed in a press release sent by the Office of the United Nations Bangladesh Resident Coordinator on Tuesday (April 4).

According to the report, millions of people have directly benefited from the various initiatives implemented in the country during the first year of implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) project from 2022-2026.

UN Country Teams and humanitarian response partners have strongly supported the country's preparedness to respond to climate-related disasters and the humanitarian crisis of the Rohingya, as well as progress in aid to achieve sustainable development.

Gwen Lewis, UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh, made a statement while presenting the report.

The statement said, despite the challenging global environment of 2022, the United Nations has continued to provide progressive assistance to the people and government of Bangladesh with the aim of strengthening various institutions and policies of this country, as well as implementing several initiatives and services. Efforts continue to strengthen food security, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, education, child protection, support for survivors of gender-based violence, safe, legal and regular migration, social protection and health.

The United Nations continues to provide progressive assistance to the people and governments of these countries to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The report noted that 59 percent of funding (US$520.5 million) of a priority application of US$881 million under the Joint Assistance Plan (JRP) to address the humanitarian crisis related to the Rohingya in 2022 had been collected by the end of that year. Critical humanitarian and basic services are successfully provided through that fund.

The report provides an overview of the work of the United Nations in Bangladesh—consisting of three chapters.
