This decision was taken in a meeting held under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal at the Agargaon polling station in the capital on Sunday. Four election commissioners and senior officials of the EC were present this time.

After the meeting, Election Commission Secretariat Secretary Jahangir Alam announced the schedule. The 5 constituencies that are holding by-elections are Thakurgaon-3, Bogra-4, Bogra-6, Chapainawabganj-2 and Brahmanbaria-2.


EC Secretary Jahangir Alam said that on February 1, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, the election will be taken in the by-elections of five parliamentary seats in the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

The EC secretary said that whether there will be CC cameras in the polling station or not, it will be decided later.

As per the announced schedule, the last date for filing nominations is January 5. Selection on January 8. Last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is January 15.

The EC Secretary also said that after the by-elections are held in these constituencies, the polling date for reserved women's constituencies-50 will be announced.


Earlier on December 11, Aminul Islam of Chapainawabganj-2 constituency, Mosharraf Hossain of Bogra-4 constituency, GM Siraj of Bogra-6 constituency, Zahidur Rahman of Thakurgaon-3 constituency, Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan of Brahmanbaria-2 constituency and MP of reserved constituency Rumin Farhana resigned. do On the same day, the Parliament Secretariat issued a notification accepting the resignation letter.

Chapainawabganj-3 Member of Parliament Harunor Rashid's resignation has not been accepted as he is out of the country. But he has already submitted his resignation by e-mail.
