Case application against former commissioner of DMP and 15 police officers
A case has been filed against 15 police officials including former commissioner of DMP Asaduzzaman Miah for allegedly torturing and killing former general secretary of Khilgaon Police Station Chhatra Dal, Nuruzzaman Jani.
On Monday, Johnny's father, Md. Yakub Ali, made this application in the court of Judge Md. Asaduzzaman of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court. The court said that it will take the statement of the plaintiff and pass the order later.
The other accused in the case are present Chittagong Commissioner Krishnapad Roy, DB Ramna Zone SI Deepak Kumar Das, DB Ramna Zone Senior Assistant Police Commissioner Hasan Arafat, Md Zahidul Haque Talukder, DB Police Inspector Fazlur Rahman, Ohiduzzaman, SM Shahriar Hasan, DB SI Shihab Uddin, Bahauddin Faruqi, Md Jahangir Hossain, DB Constable Md Solaiman, Abu Syed, Md Lutfar Rahman and Khilgaon police station SI Md Alauddin. All were working at DMP at the time of the incident.
Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder, former president of the Dhaka Bar, heard on behalf of the plaintiff in the court. He was assisted by lawyers Nurul Islam Zahid and Hannan Bhuiyan.
Allegedly, police arrested Nuruzzaman Jani, the former general secretary of Khilgaon Thana Chhatra Dal, on January 16, 2015. On January 20 of the same year, he was killed in 'crossfire' and the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue.
After eight long years of this incident in 2015, the case has been filed in the court today.
