Strict action in case of vandalism in case of fire: IGP
Bangladesh Police Inspector General (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said that every incident of fire is being investigated. Strict action will be taken if there is vandalism in these places.
The IGP said these things on Saturday (April 15) afternoon while commenting on the recent fire accident in several markets in the capital.
IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun was the chief guest at the distribution of iftar material and cash among the needy people on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr organized by Bangladesh Shop Owners Association at Siddheshwari School and College Ground in the capital. Around 600 needy people were distributed iftar material and cash from the event.

The IGP said, "We have recently noticed that there have been incidents of fire in some markets of the capital. Bangladesh Police is investigating every incident of fire. If there is any vandalism, strict action will be taken against those involved.
Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun urged to extend help to helpless workers and said that some workers are losing their jobs due to the fire in the capital.
The fire broke out at the New Super Market in Newmarket area of the capital at 5:40 am on Saturday. The fire was brought under control at 9:10 am with the efforts of 30 units of fire service.
A fire broke out in the Rupali Composite Leather Warehouse Limited factory in Hazaribagh at 10:38 am on Friday (April 14). Two fire service units worked to control the fire.
Earlier on Thursday at 10:08 PM, a fire broke out in a tin shed godown near Nawabpur Suritola Market in Old Dhaka. 14 units of the fire service brought the fire under control at 11:45 pm after about 2 hours of effort.
Two weeks ago, a fire broke out in the same way and several markets in the capital including Bangabazar were reduced to ashes.
