Situation in eastern Ukraine 'hardening': Zelensky
President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that the situation in eastern Ukraine is becoming more difficult. He says Russia is deploying more troops to break down Ukraine's defenses.
Zelensky gave this information in a regular video address on Saturday night.
He said, 'I have often had to say that more difficult situations are ahead. And getting harder. The Russian invasion forces are moving more and more troops there to break through our defenses. '
"Now the situation in Bakhmut, Bhulledar, Laiman and other areas has become very difficult" - he added.
Russian troops are pushing for a significant battlefield victory after months of setbacks, Al Jazeera reports. They are also trying to capture the nearby coal-mining town of Bakhmut. '
Earlier, Zelensky said that he would not give up and fight for as long as necessary to protect the eastern city of Bakhmut in Ukraine.
President said, no one will surrender in Bakhmu. We will fight as long as we can.
Zelensky also expressed hope that the soldiers of his country will defend the city with their lives. He further said that if more weapons are given to us, it is possible to protect various areas as well as expel the enemies from the Donbas region.
