The exiled son of Iran's deposed Shah is visiting Israel
Enmity between Iran and Israel has been going on for decades. These two rival countries are engaged in a proxy war with each other. In addition, Israel has been seeing the current ruling group of Iran as a threat to itself since the beginning.
And in this situation, the exiled son of the deposed Shah of Iran is going to visit Israel. The Iranian Shah was ousted in the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Reuters reported this information in a report on Monday (April 17).
According to reports, the exiled son of the Iranian Shah, who was deposed in the 1979 Islamic Revolution, will visit Israel this week, the Israeli government said on Sunday. Even the exiled son of the ousted Shah of Iran was called the "most senior Iranian figure" by the government of the Jewish territory for the visit to Israel.
However, under the US-backed Shah, Israel and Iran once had warm and friendly relations. However, the two countries have become enemies of each other since the current regime of Iran came to power through the Islamic Revolution.
Israel said in a statement that the visit by Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of the deposed Shah, was aimed at "building bridges between the people of Israel and Iran and expressing joint opposition to the ruling Ayatollah regime in Tehran."
"Tehran would like to renew relations with Israel and our Arab neighbors once Iran becomes a democratic state," the Israeli statement quoted Pahlavi as saying. In my opinion, that day is closer than ever.'
During this upcoming visit, Pahlavi will also participate in Israel's official Holocaust memorial ceremony.
Why are Israel and Iran enemies of each other?
After the revolution in Iran in 1979, religious leaders moved to the center of power. Those Iranian leaders called for a boycott of Israel. Iran basically denied the existence of Israel at that time.
Tehran believes Israel is illegally occupying Muslim lands.
Meanwhile, Israel sees Iran as a threat to its existence. Israel has always said Iran must not have nuclear weapons. In addition, Israeli leaders are also concerned about Iran's expansion in the Middle East.
