From the Board of Islami Bank. Resignation of Sahabuddin
Mohammad Sahabuddin Chuppu, the country's elected 22nd president, has resigned from the board of directors of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL). A source in the bank confirmed that he resigned after being nominated by Awami League for the post of President.
Mohammad Sahabuddin was elected as the 22nd President of the country. The Election Commission (EC) issued a notification declaring him as the President on Monday (February 13). He was elected unopposed as there were no other candidates for the presidency.
The current president. Abdul Hamid's term ends on April 23. Accordingly, Sahabuddin is scheduled to take charge as the new president on April 24.
In June 2017, Mohammad Sahabuddin was appointed as the director of Islami Bank on behalf of JMC Builders and later became the vice chairman. He remained in the same position until he was nominated by the ruling Awami League for the post of President.
Apart from the chairman and a vice chairman, the bank now has 16 directors. There are two posts of Vice Chairman in the bank. Among them, as a result of Mohammad Sahabuddin's resignation, the foreign representative Yusuf Abdullah Al Razi is now in place. And the director and chairman of the bank on behalf of Armada Spinning Mill is Mohammad Nazmul Hasan, a former professor of the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science of Dhaka University. He took charge of the bank in 2017.
According to the Constitution, the President is above all other persons of the state. He is the head of state. He shall perform all duties other than the appointment of the Chief Justice as per clause (1) of Article 95 only as advised by the Prime Minister. But no court can inquire into any question whether the Prime Minister has given any advice to the President at all and if so.
The Prime Minister shall keep the President apprised of matters of national and foreign policy and shall, if requested by the President, present any matter to the Cabinet for consideration.
The President has the right to pardon in various cases. The President can pardon, delay and suspend the sentence passed by any court, tribunal or any other authority.
