An AQI between 301 and 400, on the other hand, is considered 'hazardous', posing a serious health risk to residents. And an AQI score of 101 to 200 is considered 'unhealthy'.

India's Kolkata and Kyrgyzstan's Bishkek topped the list with 278 and 230 AQI scores respectively. In Bangladesh, the AQI is based on five criteria pollutants—particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), NO2, CO, SO2 and ozone.
Dhaka has been plagued with air pollution problems for a long time. Its air quality generally becomes unhealthy during winters and improves slightly during monsoons.
