A member of Spain's 2010 World Cup-winning team, Busquets was also part of the team that won the European Championship two years later. The Barcelona player announced his retirement from the national team in a post on Instagram on Friday.

Busquets made his international debut in 2009 in a 2-1 win over Turkey. Since then he has played 143 matches in the Spanish jersey. Only Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos have played more matches for the former world champions.
