Advance ticket sales start 10 days before train journey
Advance sale of intercity train tickets has started 10 days before departure.
On Saturday (April 1) at 8 a.m., tickets will go on sale simultaneously through the counter and online. Tickets can be purchased online or over the counter while tickets last. There is no separate quota for online or counter.
In a press conference on March 22 regarding advance ticket sales, Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said that advance ticket sales of intercity trains will start from April 1, 10 days before departure. However, advance tickets will be sold from April 1 to April 11 in order to coordinate the decision to change the time. After this, the 10-day advance ticket system will be effective from April 2 under the new rules.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr, advance ticket sales are scheduled to start from April 7. It has been decided to sell advance and return tickets for this year's Eid-ul-Fitr 100% online. Passengers have to register to avail this facility.
To book tickets, register through NID/passport/ birth certificate verification through railway ticketing web portal, 'Rail Sheba' app or SMS from any mobile.
