Debris removal work started in Hatay province
Removal of earthquake debris from an urban area in Turkey's Hatay province has begun.
On Tuesday (February 14), Qatar-based media Al Jazeera reported this information. A drone footage showed the search for survivors nearing its end.
It shows that there are several large hydraulic excavators near the city of Antakya. With them, concrete slabs are lowered from the rubble. A cloud of dust rises from the rubble as the slab falls.
Several cities in Turkey are now under rubble after the worst earthquake in memory. Rescue workers are continuing their operations. The bodies are being recovered one by one. But the hope of finding someone new alive is also fading.
As of Tuesday (February 14), 31,643 bodies have been recovered from the impact of two heavy earthquakes (one 7.8; the other 7.6). The number of injured reached lakhs.
