Currently, private universities do not have to pay income tax
The Appellate Division has upheld the judgment given by the High Court that no private university has to pay income tax for the time being.
On Thursday (April 6), the Appellate Division headed by the Chief Justice dismissed the review petition and gave this order.
At the same time, the court also upheld the order of final hearing of the writ petitions in the High Court.

And Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, Additional Attorney General Sheikh Mohammad Morshed heard the state.
In the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2021-22, income tax is levied at the rate of 15 percent on the income of private universities. The owners of the private university filed a petition in the High Court seeking suspension. At that time, the High Court suspended the decision to collect income tax from private universities. The government appealed the verdict. Today, the highest court of the country upheld the order of the High Court.
