Benzema hat trick again, Real beat Barca in the final
Real Madrid have been ignored by Barcelona in the last three El Clasicos. In addition, Los Blancos were trailing 0-1 in the first leg. But this time something different happened. Like the previous match in La Liga, Karim Benzema scored a hat trick. Carlo Ancelotti's team entered the final by beating Barca 4-1 in two legs.
Madrid won 4-0 in the second leg of the Spanish Copa del Rey semi-final at Barca's home ground on Wednesday (April 5) at the Camp Nou. As a result, Real Madrid entered the finals of this tournament for the first time after 2014 with a 4-1 lead in two legs. Vinicius Junior scored one goal with Benzema's three goals.
The host Barcelona started the match very well. In the second minute, Gavi delivered a wonderful cross to the far post for Serhi Roberto. However, French midfielder Eduardo Kamavinga cleared the ball with great speed. At the beginning of this, Real survived the goal digestion. In the 14th minute, Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois blocked Rafinha's head from Alejandro Balder's cross.
In the 26th minute, Ufoy's Vinicius and Gavi were shown yellow cards for pushing each other. Then in the added time of the first half, Courtois brilliantly saved the shot of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski. From there, Real advanced with the ball in a counter attack. Vinicius hit the ball in Barca's net after giving and taking the ball with Benzema in the D-box.
As a result, Real went to the break with a 1-0 lead. However, Real took the lead by doubling the gap in the fifth minute of the second half. In the 50th minute, Luka Modric came forward with the ball from the right and passed to Benzema in the box. The French striker hit the target with a sharp shot.
Desperate to return to the match, Barcelona scored again in the 58th minute. Vinicius was fouled by the referee in the D-box. Benzema made the scoreline 3-0 with a successful spot kick. And in the 80th minute, Benzema put an end to all the uncertainty by completing the hat trick by catching the pass of Vinicius and avoiding Mark-Andre ter Stegen.
With this victory, the European giants entered the Copa del Rey final. However, Real's hopes of retaining the La Liga title have faded. They are 12 points behind Barcelona at the top of the league. The Madrid side take on Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final this month.
