Collision between truck and bicycle: School student died
A school student was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a bicycle in Dinajpur Chirirbandar upazila.
On Tuesday (April 11), Sub-Inspector (SI) of Dasmile Highway Police Station Nani Gopal confirmed this information. Earlier on the same day, the incident took place in front of Ranirbandar College Mor Bazaar in the upazila around 7 am.
The deceased is Prashant Roy (15), son of Shyamal Roy of Kshenpara, Alokdihi Union of the upazila. He was a class 10 student of Alokdihi JB High School.
According to the local, on Tuesday morning, Prashant was going to private school by riding a bicycle. At this time this incident happened.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Nani Gopal said that on Tuesday morning, a speeding cargo truck bound for Dinajpur on the highway reached Ichamati Collegemor Bazar and collided head-on with Prashant's bicycle coming from the opposite direction. Prashant was killed on the spot.
He also said that after this incident, the locals blocked the road for an hour. Later, a team of Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Chirirbandar Police Station and Dasmile Highway Police quickly removed the locals from the road and normalized traffic.
