Gold worth 74 lakh rupees recovered from Benapole border
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members recovered 8 gold bars weighing 938 grams from Putkhali border area of Benapole. It was not possible to arrest anyone at this time.
The gold was recovered from Putkhali village under Benapole Port police station in the early hours of Saturday (February 11).
Khulna 21 BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Tanveer Rahman said, based on secret information, we got to know that a large amount of gold shipment will go to India through a place called Sajaler Mor in Putkhali village.
A raid was conducted there based on such news. During the raid, the two suspected motorcyclists were asked to slow down. At this time they tried to escape without stopping the motorcycle. BGB members hit the motorcyclist with sticks, causing a bag he was carrying to fall and they fled.
Later 8 gold bars weighing 938 grams were found in that bag. The estimated market value of which is 74 lakh 19 thousand taka.
