Arrest warrant issued against Haji Selim's son

The court canceled the bail of Mohammad Erfan Selim, son of Awami League Member of Parliament Haji Mohammad Selim, and issued an arrest warrant in the case filed on the charge of beating and attempted murder of a Navy officer.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Noor gave this order on Wednesday (08 February).

On this day, the case was scheduled for charge hearing. Irfan Salim could not appear in court due to illness. For this, time is applied on his behalf. Apart from this, his lawyer Mr. Prananath applied for postponing the charge hearing as he was busy with Dhaka Bar Association elections.

The court rejected the application and issued an arrest warrant against Irfan Selim. At the same time, the court ordered the trial to be started against 5 accused including Irfan Salim. The court fixed the date of hearing on March 6.

Erfan Salim

• The other 4 accused who started the trial are Erfan Selim's bodyguard Zahidul Molla, driver Mizanur Rahman, Madina Group's protocol officer AB Siddique Deepu and associate Kazi Ripon. Among them, Zahidul is currently in jail. Mizanur and Deepu are on bail and Kazi Ripon is absconding.

On October 25, 2020, Navy Lieutenant Wasif Ahmad Khan was riding a motorcycle. Meanwhile, the car of Irfan Selim, the ward councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation, son of Haji Selim, hit him. Then he stopped the motorcycle on the side of the road and stood in front of the car and introduced himself. Then others who were with Irfan from the car together beat him and threatened to kill him. Abusing his wife in obscene language.

In this incident, on the morning of October 26, 2020, Irfan Salim, his bodyguard. Wasif Ahmad Khan filed a case in Dhanmondi police station accusing 2-3 unknown people including Zahidul Molla, AB Siddique Dipu and driver Mizanur Rahman. On February 11, 2021, the investigating officer of the case, DB Police Sub-Inspector Mominul Haque filed a charge sheet against five people.
