Kohat Deputy Commissioner Furqan Ashraf confirmed the accident. He said, there were 30 visitors in that boat. Most of them were children.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
- Pakistani newspaper The Dawn quoted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Jury Service spokesman Bilal Faizi as saying that 25 to 30 students from a local madrassa were visiting the dam on an educational trip. All the children in the boat are between 12 and 20 years old. It is believed that the boat sank due to carrying extra passengers.

Faizi added that seven ambulances, four boats, two rescue vehicles and more than 40 personnel were involved in the rescue operation, which is still ongoing.
Mir Rauf, a local police officer, said all the dead recovered from the Tanda dam lake were aged between seven and 14 years.
