Organizers say the country's largest Friday prayer will be held on the first day of the World Ijtema. Maulana Zobair, the rabbi of Kakrail, will lead this Friday prayer at around 1:30 p.m. To participate in this largest Friday prayer, every Ijtema, apart from Tabligh Muslims, from Gazipur and surrounding districts started to take a position in the Ijtema Maidan on Thursday night.
Covering the entire 160-acre Ijtema Maidan, the worshipers will queue up in Kamarpara, Dhaka-Mymensingh highway and also in nearby alleys to participate in Friday prayers.
To the west of the Maidan, a prayer pulpit has been constructed on the east side of the Turag river and a lectern has been constructed on the north-west side of the foreign worshippers. From the pulpit of prayer, the imam of the five daily prayers and the narrator stand on the stage of the recitation. Final prayers will be conducted from Bayan Manch.
In the field of about 1 square kilometer area, a special umbrella mic has been installed to listen to the speech of the worshipers in the pandal of the tent on bamboo poles. Adequate electric lights have been installed. Jellawari is divided into 91 separate sections (khitas) for the worshipers of the native tabligh.
A separate accommodation with modern facilities has been provided in the north-west corner of the grounds for foreign Tablighi followers.
Meanwhile, due to the dispute between the Tabligh Jamaats, the Biswa Ijtema is being held in two phases. And the followers of Saad Kandhalvi will perform Ijtema on 20th, 21st and 22nd of January. As such, all those who are in the field or are coming are pro-Maulana Zubair.
