Spontaneous participation in Mars procession despite threats

Although the history of Bengali New Year celebration is very old, the beginning of Mangal Sobhayatra was in the nineties. This procession, which started with the desire to destroy evil forces, is now celebrated across the country.

Every year the theme is decided considering the national and international context. The motto of the poet Rabindranath's poet Rabindranath's poem 'Barish Chha Mage Shanti Bari' was set with the hope that peace would spread among all, but recently by sending a note, threats surrounded the event. However, ignoring everything, people of different ages spontaneously participated in the procession.

On Friday (April 14) at 9:08 a.m., the colorful procession was taken out from the fine arts faculty of Dhaka University. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman and State Minister for Culture KM Khalid led the procession.

DU's Vice-Chancellor (Administration) also participated. Samad, Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. ASM Makusad Kamal, Proctor Professor Maksudur Rahman, Former Proctor Professor AKM Golam Rabbani, Teachers Association President Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, General Secretary Zeenat Huda etc.

Before 9 o'clock in the morning, men and women of different ages gathered in the fine arts premises in Baisakhi costumes. 'Happy New Year 1429', 'Come O Baisakh' written in paint on the face. The men dressed in red and white Punjabis, headscarves, and lungis and showed themselves in full Bengaliness. Women wear Boishakhi saris. Small children also join the festival with their parents.


Security As always, law enforcement forces provide extensive security. Swat team, RAB, police alert team took position at the front of the rally. National flag in the hands of some, masks made of fine art in the hands of others. Apart from this, there were portraits of Tepa puppets, peacocks, blue cows, elephants, lambs and lastly tigers at the front of the rally.

Shobha Rahman and Anisur Rahman, a couple who came to celebrate Pahela Boishakh, told Banglanews that Pohela Boishakh is the festival of our lives. We wait for this day. It is the hope that the negative aspects of everyone's life go away and become filled with fullness.
