Md. is going to be the 22nd president of Bangladesh. Sahabuddin is quiet. A member of the party's advisory council, former commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission, former senior district and session judge Chuppu has submitted nomination papers as Awami League's candidate for the next presidential post.

Because of the absolute majority of the Awami League in the Parliament, the freedom fighter Md. Sahabuddin Chuppui is the new president. The opposition Jatiya Party has already announced that it will not field a candidate.

Md. Sahabuddin Chuppu was born in 1949 at Jubilee Tankpara (Shivarampur) in Pabna city. Father Sharfuddin Ansari and mother Khairunnessa. She studied up to Class III at the erstwhile Gandhi Girls' School in Pabna and was admitted to Radhanagar Majumdar Academy in Class IV.

After passing SSC in 1966, he passed HSC in 1968 and BSc in 1971 (conducted in 1972) from Pabner Edward College. Later he obtained his Masters in Psychology from Rajshahi University in 1974 and LLB from Pabna Shahid Advocate Aminuddin Law College in 1975.


Soon after the BNP-Jamaat alliance came to power in 2001, Awami League and its affiliates' leaders and activists and minority communities were attacked. At that time there were incidents of murder, rape and looting. Later, when the Awami League government came to power, a commission was formed to investigate those incidents, the head of which was Chuppu.

From 2011 to 2016, Sahabuddin Chuppu served as the Commissioner of ACC. This leader is known as one of the stalwarts of Awami League during the difficult times and is the president of Pabna Development Foundation.

Sahabuddin Chuppu was elected Secretary General of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Judicial Service Association twice consecutively in 1995 and 1996. He also did journalism early in his professional life. He is a life member of Pabna Press Club and Annada Govinda Public Library.

In 1975, when the Bangladesh Farmer-Labor Awami League (Bakshal) was formed, he was nominated as the joint secretary general of the Pabna district committee. When Bangabandhu's family was killed, Sahabuddin Chuppu was arrested under martial law and subjected to inhuman torture. After being released from prison, he served as the publicity secretary of Pabna District Awami League.

Sahabuddin Chuppu, who played one of the key roles in investigating the World Bank's alleged Padma Bridge corruption allegations during his tenure as ACC Commissioner, was able to prove the allegations to be false and empty. The inquiry report submitted by him was supported by the Canadian Court.

On November 16, 1972, the eldest daughter of Dilalpur resident Ali Akhtar of Pabna city. Sahabuddin Chuppu got married to Rebecca Sultana. Dr. Rebecca Sultana joined the BCS administration cadre and retired in 2009 as Joint Secretary. He is currently a professor in the Department of Human Research Program at Prime Asia University and the founding chairman of Friends for Children Organization. Chuppu-Rebeka is the only child of the couple. Arshad Adnan (Ronnie) is currently working in a senior position in Prime Bank with higher degrees at home and abroad.
