Dmitry Medvedev, who served as the President of Russia from 2008 to 2012, has recently been serving as the Vice-Chairman of Russian President Vladimir Putin's influential Security Council. He said, "The defeat of a nuclear-powered Russia in a conventional war could trigger a nuclear war."

Medvedev said, "Nuclear countries have never lost a major conflict." Medvedev said NATO and other Western defense leaders will meet Friday at Germany's Ramstein air base to discuss war strategy and support for Western efforts to defeat Russia in Ukraine. But they should also think about policy risks.

Currently, the world's top two nuclear weapons possessors, Russia and the United States, own about 90 percent of the world's nuclear warheads. The ultimate decision-making power over Russia's use of nuclear weapons rests solely with President Vladimir Putin.

Despite NATO's ongoing military superiority over Russia, Moscow has more nuclear weapons than the European alliance. The number of war heads in Russia is 5,977. Among them, Russia's "Doomsday Arsenal" is capable of destroying the whole world several times. Even if another country destroys Russia first with a nuclear weapon, it can still destroy that destroyer with its automatic second strike capability.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called Russia's special military operation in Ukraine an existential conflict against an aggressive and arrogant West. He also warned that Russia will use all its possible means to protect itself and the people of the country against any aggressive force.

Putin said at the beginning of this war, the world would not exist without Russia. Russia didn't build nuclear weapons just for show.
