During the incident, heavily armed men entered the bar in two vehicles and started firing indiscriminately, according to a report by the country's security secretariat.

Six people died on the spot after the shooting and two others died while undergoing treatment, AFP said. Five people injured in gunshots were hospitalized on Sunday.

- Local media reported that the dead included club employees, musicians and nightclub patrons. Witnesses said that after the shooting, people panicked as the floor of the club was covered in blood.
This bar called 'El Venadito' is located in the center of Jerez. The municipality is located approximately 60 kilometers (36 mi) southwest of the provincial capital, Zacatecas.
