Messi returned PSG to victory by reaching the milestone
Lionel Messi scored a goal on Saturday after a week of listening to his fans. After beating Nice 2-0, PSG took the lead again in League One by 6 points. The defending champions returned to victory after two losses.
PSG beat Nice 2-0 at Nice on Saturday night. Sergio Ramos doubled the lead in the second half after Messi led the team in the first half. Despite their best efforts, Nice could not find a goal, especially in the second half when they harassed PSG with one attack after another.
Intoxicated by victory, PSG started playing aggressively from the beginning. Several of Messi's efforts missed the net in the first 15 minutes. But the biggest disappointment came in the 21st minute when Danilo Pereira's header rattled the post.
In the 26th minute, Messi scored with the first touch after getting the ball from Nuno Mendes' cutback inside the box. After conceding the goal, the hosts, however, tried desperately to turn around. But goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saved PSG by keeping out two great efforts before the break.
In the second half, Nice played a more organized attack. But Donnarumma stood before them as a wall. The Italian goalkeeper is actually the co-captain of the match with 7 saves alone. Besides, Golbar also protected the tourists. In between, Dante's shot hit the post and another hit the crossbar. But Ramos' goal in the 76th minute changed the scenario. The Spanish right-back headed in from Messi's corner. Nis couldn't turn around after that. As a result, PSG left the field with a comfortable victory.
At the end of 30 matches, PSG, who is at the top, has collected 69 points. Their points gap is now six with the second-placed Lions. Nice is in eighth position with 45 points.
