HSC exam is being held in August instead of July
This year's HSC and equivalent exams were decided to be held in July. However, the HSC exam is getting delayed by a month as the colleges are unable to finalize the syllabus.
This exam will be conducted next August, said the coordinator of the inter-education board and the chairman of the Dhaka education board, Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar.
On Wednesday (April 12), he said that the syllabus of HSC has not been completed in many educational institutions. As a result, the HSC selection examination has been postponed by one month. However, the date has not been finalized yet.
Earlier it was planned to conduct the HSC examination in July. This decision raised objections from educators and parents. Because if the exam was held in July, the students would have to sit for the exam only 15 months after the start of higher secondary classes. But the academic year of high school is two years.
According to the academicians, there was a danger that the students would be under pressure due to such haste and their education would remain deficient. Besides, the next session for university admission for higher education is June-July next year. So students have to be coached for about a year. This will increase the cost burden of the parents.
