Hero Elam got the star symbol, note a lion

Social media content creator Ashraful Alam Hero Alam has received symbols for by-elections from two seats in Bogra.

Bogra-4 and Bogra-6 as candidates for the returning officer and Bogra Deputy Commissioner Md. on Wednesday afternoon. He took 'Ektar' as a symbol from Saiful Islam. The Election Commission's Appellate Board also upheld the decision of the Returning Officers to cancel his nomination papers in two constituencies. Hero Alam went to the High Court against that decision.

After the hearing of the writ case on Tuesday, Justice Md. held Hero Alam's nomination papers and ordered him to be allotted symbols. Khasruzzaman and Justice Md. Hero Alam has asked for 'Lion' symbol in the nomination paper. However, he chose 'Ekstar' as that symbol was registered in the name of another party. Accepting the symbol, Hero Alam told reporters, "The lion symbol is the registration of a team named Bangladesh Democratic Movement. I didn't know that. The symbol was not registered in 2018. So I changed the brand and bought 'Ektara'."

Expressing optimism about the victory, Hero Alam said, “In the last election, my person was attacked because I was less. My workforce is more than adequate for this journey. If attacked, I will counter-attack.” District Commissioner Md. Saiful Islam praised Hero Alam's 'mental strength' after allotting the symbol and wished him well and assured a fair and impartial election.

At this time Senior District Election Officer Mahmud Hasan, Bogra Sadar Election Officer ASM Zakir Hossain were present there. Earlier in 2018 too, Hero Alam had lost his security after being elected from Bogra-4 parliamentary seat. Election Commission has announced the schedule of by-elections in two constituencies in New Bogra after the resignation of BNP MPs recently.

According to Hero Alam, he has taken the decision to elect from two constituencies this time due to the 'demand of the voters'. However, the Returning Officer canceled his nominations in both the constituencies, it said, after 'checking the one percent voter list provided by the candidates did not prove the support of more than one person'.

Later he appealed to the Election Commission in Agargaon, Dhaka. When that application was also rejected, Hero Alam went to lawyer. He also informed that he will file a writ against the provision of one percent voter support after the election.

Calling it a 'black law', Hero Alam said, "This rule imposed by the Election Commission to elect independent candidates is a farce, harassing and contradictory." He said, "In the case of independent candidates in the Member of Parliament, Thana Parishad elections, one of the total voters is a farce." A percentage of voters' signatures are required. But why can't it be done in the case of independent candidates in Union Parishad elections. Again, the party symbol is applicable to the Chairman of the Police Station and the Chairman of the Union Parishad.

"But upazila vice chairman and union parishad members are not given party symbols for what. Are two types of rules correct in the same election? "According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, by-elections will be held in five parliamentary constituencies on February 1.

Bogra's only operator Ashraful Alam is recently known in the country and outside the country by singing his own music and creating music videos on social media. He faced criticism for singing Rabindra Sangeet. Then the police called him and warned him. There was a storm of criticism on social media.
