Russia preparing for heavy air strikes in Ukraine!
NATO intelligence reports that Russia is preparing to launch a major air strike in Ukraine. As part of this, they are gathering warplanes and helicopters on the border.
On Tuesday (February 14), a NATO intelligence officer said that gathering Russian warplanes means that Ukraine should provide air defense as soon as possible.
The intelligence also said, "If the Ukrainians are to be protected, they must be given adequate and as much air defenses and weapons as possible."
On the other hand, in a meeting at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that the current air defense system in Ukraine is not sufficient to prevent Russian attacks. "We have to keep working until we have adequate air defenses for Kiev because there is a possibility of a major attack now," he said.
He also said, 'We know Russia has enough fighter jets…and the power remains. We need to ensure that Ukraine has sufficient strength to survive an attack by Russia when it deploys its air force.
Two NATO intelligence officials told the Financial Times that Russia is massing fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft near the Ukrainian border.
They said, 'The strength of the Russian ground forces has been greatly reduced. And now it is assumed that they will turn to the use of air power.'
