The shipment was seized from Panch Bhulot boundary of Sharsha police station at around 9:30 pm on Friday (October 14). At this time, the smuggler dropped the gold bars and ran away. The absconding accused are Pola Abdullah of Meezan of Panch Bhulot area of Sharsha Upazila and Ripon son of Abdul Gafur of the same area.

Khulna-21 BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Tanveer Rahman said that three suspects were chased by a raid at Agra Bhulot border in Sharsha based on secret information. At this time, when they tried to arrest one of them, he dropped the gold bars and jumped into the Ichamati river on the border and fled to the Indian border. Later, 43 gold bars weighing 5 kg and 14 grams left behind by the smugglers were seized. The estimated market price of which is 3 crore 50 lakh 56 thousand taka. Efforts are underway to arrest the smugglers. One after another gold shipments have been intercepted but smuggling across the border has not stopped. However, gold traders, godfathers and smugglers will be brought under the law soon, he said.
