Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will award 'Ekushe Padak-2023' to 19 individuals and two organizations on the occasion of Immortal Ekushe February and International Mother Language Day on Monday (February 20).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will award 'Ekushe Padak-2023' to 19 individuals and two organizations on the occasion of Immortal Ekushe February and International Mother Language Day on Monday (February 20).
He will present the second highest civilian medal of Bangladesh in a ceremony at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital at 11:00 am.

On this day in 1952, the nation will observe 'Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day' on February 21 to pay deep respect to the martyrs of the language movement who made the supreme sacrifice for the mother tongue. During the current Awami League government, the amount of money given to the awardees has been increased several times. In the last year 2020, it was increased to four lakh taka.

Masood Ali Khan and Shimul Yusuf in Acting category and Manoranjan Ghoshal, Gazi Abdul Hakim and Fazal-e-Khoda (posthumous) in Music category, Jayant Chatterjee in Recitation category, Nawazeesh Ali Khan in Art category and Kanak Champa in Painting category are receiving Chakma Award.
Mumtaz Uddin (posthumously) is receiving the award in the Liberation War category, Md. in journalism. Shah Alamgir (posthumous), research Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, Professor in Education Dr. Mazharul Islam (posthumous), Saidul Haque in social service, Advocate Manjurul Islam (posthumous), Akhtar Uddin Mia (posthumous) in politics and Dr. in language and literature. Moniruzzaman receiving the award.
Bangladesh National Museum in education category and Vidyananda Foundation in social service are receiving the award.
