Due to the fact that the government is not elected, Durdin has increased the price of electricity
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam strongly condemned and protested the increase in electricity prices. He said that the current government has taken this unreasonable decision to increase the price of electricity in extreme distress because it is not the government elected by the people.
He said these things in a statement signed by Syed Imran Saleh Prince, Acting Office Secretary of BNP on Friday (January 13).
Commenting that this decision to increase the price of electricity is anti-people and ill-considered, BNP Secretary General said that the price of electricity will be increased every month in the name of price adjustment, which is a retail trick with the people.
He said that as a result of the government's failure, corruption and wrong policies, there is an acute crisis in the country's economy and public life. When the people's life is breathless due to the extreme increase in the prices of all commodities including rice, dal, oil, sugar, when the cost of living of the people is increasing unbridled, there is almost no employment, then this decision of the government is a death blow.
Mirza Fakhrul said that after the price increase at the wholesale level two months ago, this time the increase in the price of electricity at the retail and consumer level will increase the cost of living and the price of every thing, including the increase in production costs in agricultural irrigation and mill factories.
Commenting that the people have to pay the cost of unlimited corruption and irregularities in the power sector, he said, "quick rental, without generating power, the owners of the power plants are benefiting from the people's money in the name of capacity charge." Due to corruption, wastage and mismanagement, the cost of power generation has increased and now people's pockets are being cut.
He urged the government to protest this anti-people decision by joining the rally and procession called by BNP and other political parties and alliances to demand reduction in electricity prices on January 16.
