One person has died after being infected with Nipah malware in the country. He died of this virus within the first 10 days of the year. The National Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) reported the data. This was said at a conference on 'Winter Infectious Diseases and Nipah Virus Transmission' organized by IEDCR on Wednesday (January 11).

According to IEDCR, the deceased was a resident of Rajshahi. The woman had a history of consuming raw date juice. Three cases of Nipah virus were first reported in 2022. Two people died inside.
Director of IEDCR Professor Dr. Tahmina Shireen said Nipah malware spreads through the saliva or urine of bats in this country. Humans become infected with the malware when they drink contaminated raw palm juice. The infection can spread from that person to his family members or health workers.

Dr. Tahmina Shireen says that it is not obligatory to eat the juice of raw dates and any half-eaten fruit. According to IEDCR, 71 percent of people infected with Nipah malware die. So avoid consuming raw date juice.
Speakers at the conference also said that it takes eight to nine days after consuming the juice to get symptoms of Nipah malware infection. Symptoms appear six to 11 days after human-to-human transmission. According to researchers at IEDCR, drinking date juice after heating is safe. Jaggery is also safe. The company also advised palm juice collectors to wash their hands with soap after work.
