Bridge goods stolen in Barguna, Chhatra League president arrested
The arrested Shaon is the son of Babul Mridha, the former president of the same union Awami League. Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Betagi police station, confirmed the matter on Friday (April 14) night.
Sources of Betagi police station said that the goods of old bridges from different places of Mokamia union of the upazila were kept in Mokamia market. The goods were stolen at midnight on Thursday (April 13). Later, the UP Chairman filed a written complaint with the Betagi police station on Friday morning to recover the stolen goods.
Mokamiya Union Chhatra League president Shaon Mridha and Moti Howladar, a businessman, were arrested by the police on suspicion of being involved in the incident. After about 11 hours of interrogation, it was initially proved that they were involved in the theft of the goods. Later they were arrested with a case of theft.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Betagi Police Station Anwar Hossain said that the two arrested have been arrested as preliminary evidence of their involvement in the theft has been found. They will be sent to court on Saturday.
