High prices of daily commodities, helpless lower and middle class families
Consumers who are helpless with the price of everyday products in the market are common. Starting from fish and chicken, the prices of most of the products in the market have gone beyond the reach of the buyers. Lower-middle-class buyers are running from one shop to another in the market of daily commodities in the hope of a little lower price. However, it does not match the search for any relief.
On Friday (February 24), a few markets in the capital showed a week-long increase in the prices of raw chillies and beef. However, broiler chicken and egg prices are being sold at higher prices in the previous week. However, the prices of some winter vegetables have come down slightly. Besides, the prices of other products are almost unchanged.
Angry buyers complain that even though the government officials are talking about the daily necessities, they have not taken any effective steps to control the market.
Raw chillies are being sold at Tk 180 to Tk 200 per kg. Two weeks ago, a kg of raw chilli was Tk 150 to Tk 160. Besides, beef is being sold at Tk 750 per kg. Which was sold a week ago for 650 to 700 taka.
A kg of broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 220 to Tk 230. Two weeks ago it was 190 to 200 taka. The price of golden chicken is selling at Tk 310 to Tk 320 per kg. A kg of layer chicken is being sold at Tk 280-290. A dozen farm chicken eggs are being sold at Tk 140 in the market. A dozen of duck eggs are being sold at Tk 220. A dozen of domestic chicken eggs is 190 taka.
Cabbage and cauliflower are being sold at Tk 30-35 depending on size. A kg of sweet pumpkin 40-50 taka, pumpkin pieces 50-60 taka. A kg of long and round brinjal is being sold at Tk 60-80 per kg. Tomatoes are being sold at Tk 30-40. Beans are being sold at Tk 50-60, drumsticks at Tk 60, bitter gourd at Tk 80-100 and potatoes at Tk 27-30 per kg.
Barab is being sold at Tk 65-80 per kg, chichinga at Tk 55-60, shrimp at Tk 70-90, papaya at Tk 30-40, kachur lati at Tk 60-70, dhundul at Tk 50-60, coriander leaves at Tk 120 and carrot at Tk 40- 50 taka, each piece of gourd is being sold at taka 60 to 70 taka.
Besides, the prices of other vegetables are almost unchanged. Although the price of vegetables fluctuates.
Meanwhile, onion (new) at Tk 35-40, big garlic at Tk 200, small garlic at Tk 120-130. The price of ginger has decreased in the market. It is being sold at Tk 240 per kg and open sugar at Tk 115 to Tk 120 per kg. 60 rupees per kg of open flour in the market. A packet of flour is Tk 65 per kg. Earlier it was Tk 70 per kg. A 2 kg packet of flour is being sold at Tk 130.
A liter of soybean oil is being sold at Tk 187 in the market. Salt is being sold at Tk 38-40 per kg. The prices in the spice market are almost the same as last week's market.
On the other hand, a kg of goat meat is being sold at Tk 1,000-1,000. Earlier it was sold for 900 to 1000 taka.
Depending on the location, rue, katla, mrigel are selling at 340-360 taka, increasing by 20 taka per kg. Pangas is being sold at 150-160 kg, tilapia at 100 kg.
