The election commission is also calling the allies of BNP for dialogue
According to the decision of the party's standing committee, BNP will not participate in the dialogue with the Election Commission (EC). Their observation is that the EC cannot function independently, so there is no point in dialogue. BNP will officially announce this decision of the party in a press conference on Wednesday (March 29).
It is said that this decision was taken at the virtual meeting of BNP on Tuesday (March 28) night.
According to the sources of the Standing Committee, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir raised the issue of the letter sent by the Election Commission calling for dialogue at the beginning of the meeting. A member of the Standing Committee is asked for his opinion on what to do about the letter. Then the members gave the opinion not to participate in the Election Commission dialogue.
However, some members of the Standing Committee, in response to the Election Commission's dialogue letter, gave an opinion in favor of informing the 10-point demands of the BNP, including resignation of the government, dissolution of the parliament and impartial supervisor during the election. But finally the meeting decided that BNP will not participate in the dialogue and will not send any letter. Apart from this, the meeting also discussed about organizing Iftar in honor of politicians. There, many members of the standing committee gave an opinion in favor of not having this Iftar.
When asked about this, BNP Standing Committee member Selima Rahman told Dhaka Post that the decision of the Standing Committee meeting to participate in the Election Commission dialogue will be announced by the Party Secretary General in a press conference tomorrow.
A member of the BNP Standing Committee said on condition of anonymity that everyone knows and understands that the Election Commission cannot do anything without the government's word. As a result, going into dialogue with the Election Commission is pointless. And the Election Commission has given a letter to the Secretary General of BNP. So there is nothing to reply to the letter from the party.
Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP Chairperson's media wing, said that Dr. participated virtually in the standing committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Tarek Rahman, acting chairman of BNP. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Zamir Uddin Sarkar, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Salauddin Ahmed, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Selima Rahman and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku.
On March 24, CEC wrote a letter to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul calling for dialogue. Then on Monday (March 26) at an iftar ceremony, Mirza Fakhrul said that this government has destroyed the election system. Now dramatize the dialogue again. The Election Commission sent us a letter for dialogue. As we have said, the crisis is only one - how the election will be held, in what system. Elections must be held under a caretaker government and an impartial government. If you talk, you will talk about that, not about anything else.
