The day of judgment on Jahangir's post of mayor is postponed to Tuesday
The High Court has postponed the date of ruling on the ruling challenging the validity of the decision to temporarily suspend Jahangir Alam from the post of Mayor of Gazipur City Corporation.
Justice Zafar Ahmed and Justice Md. Bashir Ullah's High Court bench fixed the day.
Today was fixed for judgment after the hearing of the ruling issued on the question of the validity of the suspension of Jahangir Alam from the post of mayor was over. Today, the state wants time again. After granting the time application, the High Court fixed the date of judgment on April 4.
Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayon, Advocate MK Rahman, Barrister Belayet Hossain heard on behalf of Jahangir Alam in the court. Deputy Attorney General Nowroz Md. heard the state. Russell Chowdhury. Advocate Sanjida Khanam appeared for the City Corporation.
Before this, the hearing of the rule issued on the validity of the temporary dismissal of Jahangir Alam from the post of mayor of Gazipur City Corporation on March 15 started.
Jahangir Alam, who was temporarily suspended from the post of mayor of Gazipur City Corporation on August 14 last year, filed a writ in the High Court to get his post back. The writ challenged the legal validity of his suspension. Barrister Moshiur Rahman Sabuj filed this writ on behalf of Jahangir Alam.
The ruling Awami League expelled Jahangir Alam from the party for making controversial comments about Bangabandhu and the martyrs of the liberation war. After this Jahangir Alam was dismissed from the post of Mayor of Gazipur City Corporation by the Ministry of Local Government.
However, Awami League later returned Jahangir Alam to the party.
In the 2018 Gazipur City Corporation election, Jahangir Alam won the mayor's post with a large number of votes in the boat symbol as a candidate of Awami League.
