The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Youth Games today
The final phase of the Sheikh Kamal Bangladesh Youth Games begins on Sunday (February 26). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Games at the Army Stadium in the capital in the evening. After that, there is going to be a charming opening ceremony organized by the Bangladesh Olympic Association. However, due to the global financial crisis, BOA has decided to cut back on everything. However, officials said that there will be no reduction in the grandeur of the event.
The long wait is over. 4000 athletes will be at the army stadium of the city. Starting from January, after the district-upzilla stage, it is time for the final phase of the Sheikh Kamal Youth Games to rise.
Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) has already completed all the activities. This year's opening ceremony is being held at the Army Stadium under the supervision of the Bangladesh Army. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the games at 7 pm.
After the inauguration, national award winning cyclist Farhana Sultana Shila and sports award winner Sataru Salim Miah will come to the stadium carrying the youth games torch from the cantonment. Later, Asian Indoor Games gold medalist sprinter Imranur Rahman and South Asian Games gold medalist karateka Marjan Akhter will light the Games torch carrying the torch from their hands.
Due to the global financial crisis, this year's inaugural event will not have much grandeur. The entire arrangement has been arranged keeping in mind the local culture.
BOA Deputy Secretary General Bashir Al Mamun said, 'We are at the very last stage of preparation. There were many challenges. Because, all the programs we have done before have been done at Bangabandhu National Stadium. I fixed everything where there was a problem. One of our problems was getting the athletes here. But that too has been resolved.'
Meanwhile, Imranur is excited about the opportunity to carry the Games torch. Hopefully, future star athletes will emerge from these games.
Four thousand athletes will participate in 24 disciplines in 20 venues in this year's Youth Games.
