A.League-BNP statement TIB's concern about Hero Alam
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) believes that the statement of two political parties about Hero Alam is not only a violation of political ethics, but also a sign of contempt for his constitutional rights.
TIB's executive director Dr. Awami League and BNP expressed concern about the statement of Awami League and BNP about Ashraful Hossain Alam alias Hero Alam, an independent candidate of Bogra by-election, in a notice sent to the press on Monday (February 6). Iftekharuzzaman.
He said, I saw in the media, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said - 'Hero Alam has now become zero. BNP fielded Hero Alam in the election. They nominated Hero Alam to make the parliament smaller.' On the other hand, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said - 'How helpless this Awami League hero is even to Alam. We have to win with him by using the state machinery.' Both the leaders attacked each other for disrespecting the candidate for the post of Member of Parliament Ashraful Hossain Alam.
Executive Director of TIB said that two groups have attacked each other using Ashraful Hossain Alam's personal identity and position as criteria. But that standard is not something positive, but through it, scholars and common people of all levels have been humiliated. Such behavior of two veteran politicians towards a common citizen has brought to the fore the grossness of the political culture of Bangladesh.
Dr. Iftekharuzzaman said, according to Article 66 of the Constitution, if a person is a citizen of Bangladesh and reaches the age of 25 years, he can become a member of Parliament if he fulfills certain conditions, including if he is not declared a naturalized person by a competent court, if he is not bankrupt, if he does not accept the citizenship of a foreign country or if he does not accept allegiance. can Despite fulfilling the conditions of the constitution, the statement of the two major political parties of the country about Alam not only corrupts the political ethics, but is also a sign of contempt for his constitutional rights.
He said, 'Parliament would have been reduced if Hero Alam was elected' - Parliament has been reduced in some way. Because, in the spirit and practice of parliamentary democracy, discrimination between people is unacceptable.
