Nipah virus infection has been found in 28 districts of the country. In such a situation, the Health Department has instructed doctors to take special precautions while treating patients with fever symptoms in every hospital of the country.

The department informed this information in a notification on Friday.

• It said that as Nipah virus infection is currently occurring in 28 districts of the country, it has been requested to prepare 10-bed isolation ward and 10-bed ICU at DNCC Covid-19 Dedicated Hospital in Mohakhali.

Recently, Health Minister Zahid Malek said in a press conference about the Nipah virus outbreak in the meeting room of the Ministry of Health in the Secretariat that eight people have been infected with the Nipah virus this season. Five of them died. The death rate due to this virus is 70 percent.

According to IEDCR data, Nipah virus was first detected in the country in 2001 in Meherpur. However, its biggest outbreak occurred in 2004 in Faridpur district. There were 35 infected and 27 died.
