Mortar shell recovered from a sinkhole in Brahmanbaria
An unexploded mortar shell was recovered in Brahmanbaria's Akhaura on Saturday (January 21) afternoon. Abu Mia, a farmer of Chanpur village in Akhaura upazila, found it while leveling a mound in front of his house, he said.
According to local residents, at first farmer Abu Mia thought it was a treasure and left it in the pond next to the house without saying anything to anyone.
Akhaura North Union Parishad Chairman. Shahjahan said, Abu Mia received it two days ago. But he didn't realize it was a mortar shell. Thinking it was the previous day's treasure, he left it in the sink. Later, when I came to know, I went there and made rescue arrangements.

Police believe that the mortar shell may be from the era of the Independence War.
In this regard, Police Inspector (OC) of Akhaura Police Station said. Asadul Islam said, the metal object is an unexploded mortar shell. Rescued for now. Further arrangements will be made for the examination.
