Jabi students block Dhaka-Aricha highway
Students of Jahangirnagar University blocked the highway demanding the release of journalist Shamsuzzaman Sams and withdrawal of the case filed against him.
Savar (Dhaka): They blocked the main gate of Jahangirnagar on the Dhaka-Aricha highway on Friday (March 31) around 3 pm.
They also demanded the cancellation of the Digital Security Act.
When the students blocked the Dhaka-bound lane of the road, the university authorities brought them to the Aricha-bound lane. Later they closed that lane again. At present, the two lanes of Aricha-bound and Dhaka-bound traffic are closed.
Earlier, the students took out a procession from Morad Chattar in Jahangirnagar. Later they came to the road and sat down. During the protest, they demanded the release of journalist Shamsuzzaman.
At least 500 hundred police are present at the scene. Officials of RAB and various intelligence agencies are also present.
