Government is working to increase new markets to increase exports: Prime Minister
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the government has taken various initiatives to increase new markets to increase exports.
He said this in a message given on Saturday on the occasion of distribution of the 'National Export Trophy' on Sunday (April 16).
Sheikh Hasina said that in addition to exporting goods, the current government is working closely with the business community to expand Bangladesh's capacity to export and expand the service sector. In addition to providing favorable government policy support for the economic development of the country, the private sector is considered as the main driving force. Export trade plays an important role in bringing stability to the global economy. Therefore, encouraging entrepreneurs by recognizing those companies that have shown significant success in facing all the challenges of export trade, earning more foreign exchange, will help in new product innovation and market expansion.
The Prime Minister said that the Awami League government is working tirelessly to develop the country's business by maintaining a business-friendly environment to build the golden Bangladesh of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's dream. To strengthen the country's economy, the government is providing various incentives to businesses. Total export earnings were US$ 15.56 billion at the time of government formation in 2009, which has increased manifold to US$ 60.97 billion in FY 2021-22 due to continued policy support in previous years.
He said, from July to February of the fiscal year 2022-23, the earned income of the goods sector was 37.07 billion US dollars, which is 9.56 percent higher than the export income of 33.84 billion US dollars in the same period of the last financial year.
