'Bengali Sign Language Day' will be celebrated nationwide on February 7.
On Tuesday (February 7), 'Bangla Ishara Bhashya Diwas-2023' will be celebrated in the country. This year's theme of the day has been decided, 'Bangla Sign Language Promotion, Improving the Quality of Life of Speech and Hearing Impaired People'.
On the occasion of the day, there will be rallies, discussions and cultural programs organized by the Ministry of Social Welfare.
It is known that on January 26, 2012, in an inter-ministerial meeting, February 7 was unanimously decided as the national Bengali Sign Language Day.
Sign language or sign language or symbolic language refers to the way of communicating by moving body parts especially hands and arms.
At least sign language has started to be used in the country, but there is no standard for it. Some private organizations are working in this regard.
