41 people are waiting for the boat in five cities
In Gazipur, Barisal, Khulna, Sylhet and Rajshahi City Corporation elections, a total of 41 people have picked up the party nomination form of Bangladesh Awami League.
This information was revealed on the last day of nomination sale on Wednesday (April 12). Meanwhile, 38 people in three upazila parishad elections and 27 people in five municipal elections have collected party nominations of Awami League.
Prior to this, these nomination forms were sold at the Dhanmondi political office of Awami League President Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the last four days. All of them are expecting nominations for the mayoral post fight for the ruling party.
In this regard, it was informed in a press release that among the five cities, there are 17 mayors in the Gazipur City Corporation election, 3 people in the Rajshahi City Corporation election, 4 people in the Khulna City Corporation election, 7 people in the Barisal City Corporation election, 10 people in the Sylhet City Corporation election and three upazilas. 38 candidates for council elections and 27 candidates for five municipal elections have collected nomination forms.
Earlier, the Election Commission announced the schedule of elections in five city corporations. According to the announced schedule, polling will be held in Gazipur City Corporation on May 25, Barisal and Khulna City Corporation on June 12 and Sylhet and Rajshahi City Corporation on June 21. Ballot will be held in all city corporations.
