Two hundred ACs are being sold in Kolkata shops a day
Like Dhaka, Calcutta also suffers from extreme heat. And to escape from this heat, people are going to the AC shops.
According to the report of Anandabazar newspaper, a few days ago the demand in the shops was like 20 a week, which has now increased to 200 a day! Sellers are having to struggle with this sudden increase in AC demand. It also happens that it takes 7-10 days for delivery after the order is placed. Then two more days to install it.
In no way can I deliver AC home before eight days! Take 10 days. After that, Mistry went to the house to install AC for two more days. After buying the AC, it will take a few days for delivery. If you think this time, then choose AC, if not, come after a few days. Virtually the same picture everywhere in the city. In keeping with the heat wave, the demand for installing air conditioners in the city is increasing by leaps and bounds, so the sellers are having to struggle to deliver AC to the homes. As a result, even after buying the AC, the 'delivery' time is being asked for sometimes 7 days, sometimes more than 10 days. Even, several shops have also put up 'out of stock' stickers mentioning the model of AC. Sellers are not giving any hope as to when the situation will be normal. On the contrary, they say, "It's not in our hands now." Someone else jokingly says, "If it rains, everything will be fine."
The sellers are not able to express any hope about when the situation will be normal. Someone is jokingly saying that everything will be fine if it rains.
The sellers claim that the demand for AC is several times higher this year compared to the last few years. Earlier in the summer, 50 ACs were sold in big shops a day, now 150-200 ACs are being sold in those shops.
The manager of a shop said that the sales of ACs had decreased significantly in the last three years due to Covid. But before that, about 50 ACs were sold a day during summer. But this time the demand exceeded everything. There has been no such year. So, to avoid confusion, I am informing the buyers before making the bill. Even then they are being billed only if they want to take it.
